Task Analysis

Design Intent

Reduce the number of physical components as well as steps necessary to operate a dental handpiece. Increase ease of use without the need for navigation technology.

Objectives

  • condense steps by reducing the need to readjust speed ratio after drill bits are changed

  • incorporate LED and cooling technology

  • consider alternatives to the foot pedal and surgical motor
